Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one titles have been won on hardcourt

A resurgent Medvedev secured his initial trophy for over two years with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the competition title decider.

The athlete, a ex- number one, has endured a torrid year, winning just a single victory at the major tournaments and experiencing a setback at the US Open.

The player's varied form on the tennis tour - and issues with his serving in specific - caused him falling of the top ten and finally separating with former coach Gilles Cervara.

Presently working with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, he has consistently progressed in the last few weeks - culminating in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This marks his maiden championship after the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hardcourt since March of the previous year.

Success also indicates the Russian has achieved 21 championships at twenty-one distinct events.

"For the first time I have attended a tournament with my children at once, so to secure a title is really nice," commented ranked player the champion.

"This title is in dedication of my second daughter Victoria, because the first title I got when my first daughter her name was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had failed in his past six championship matches, including in the German tournament in the past months.

Medvedev's counter-punching approach and recurring emotional displays on the tennis court had prompted some to doubt if his ability to compete at the elite level was finished.

Yet the athlete has made changes in the last few weeks, attempting to come to the net and perform assertively, backed up by an improved service.

He fought back from a deficit in the opening set against the difficult opponent, securing 4 of the last five games to take the lead.

The competitors exchanged breaks in the following set before Moutet, bidding for his maiden ATP Tour title, seized the initiative to create a decider.

The opponent rescued four initial break points in a tight third set before the champion broke to fifteen to close out the victory.

Appropriately, he secured the win with a rally at the net area, with Moutet failing to control a return after over two and a half hours.
