Around fifty cars have been covered with what seems to be blood from a person in the German municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Vehicles, walls and postboxes were marked, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they reported in a release.
Law enforcement report they were alerted during the night on Wednesday night, when a resident noticed that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish liquid.
The substance had been drawn in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Police then located many other smeared vehicles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under legislation outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement report preliminary tests indicate the fluid was most likely human blood.
"Currently there is no lead as to where it came from; officials are presently not cognizant of any physical harm in association with the incident," they added.
Municipal representatives said they were trying "to resolve the case" and have asked to the community for details.
A senior political figure said the attack left him stunned and needed to be solved rapidly.
"This event affects the core of Hanau and revives the pain of the extremist violent incident half a decade ago," he stated on social media, recalling the killing of nine people by a shooter aiming at individuals of migrant background in 2020.
